Our Work
Nine Areas of Impact. One Shared Purpose
At Hira Foundation, we believe that sustainable change cannot be built on a single intervention. The challenges facing India’s most vulnerable communities are interconnected — poverty touches health, which touches education, which touches livelihoods, which touches dignity. Our work therefore spans nine carefully chosen focus areas, each addressing a distinct dimension of human development, and all of them working in concert towards the same goal: communities that are resilient, equitable, and capable of shaping their own futures.
Grounded in Reality. Guided by Community.
Our nine focus areas did not emerge from a boardroom — they emerged from listening. Over years of working at the grassroots level, we have seen, first-hand, how the absence of basic education, nutritious food, safe healthcare, and economic opportunity compound each other to keep communities locked in cycles that are difficult to break alone.
Every program we design begins with the community’s own understanding of its challenges and strengths. We build from what exists, fill critical gaps, and invest in the people and systems that will carry change forward long after our direct engagement ends.
Our work is intentionally cross-cutting — a girl who stays in school because of our education program will also benefit from our health and nutrition work. A young man who completes our vocational training also receives soft skills support and financial literacy coaching. A community engaging in EcoAction also builds the civic confidence to advocate for better local governance. This integration is not accidental — it is the design.
Our Nine Areas of Impact
Each program area represents a deliberate commitment to where change is needed most — and every one of them is designed to work alongside the others.
Education & Learning
Access to quality education is a right, not a privilege. We build community-embedded learning ecosystems that go beyond the classroom — combining foundational literacy, digital skills, life skills, and psychosocial support to ensure every child and young person can truly thrive.
Food Security & Nutrition
Hunger and malnutrition are not just health challenges — they are barriers to everything else. Through nutritional support, community awareness, kitchen gardens, and food access initiatives, we work to ensure that no family goes to bed hungry.
Youth Skilling & Livelihoods
We equip young people with vocational training, soft skills, entrepreneurship support, and employment pathways that open doors to dignified and sustainable livelihoods.
Climate Resilience & EcoAction
We build community-level climate resilience through environmental education, waste management, water conservation, tree plantation, and youth-led EcoAction initiatives.
Health, Hygiene & Mental Well-being
We deliver health camps, WASH programs, menstrual health awareness, mental health counselling, and psychosocial support for vulnerable communities.
Women & Child Dignity
We work to empower women economically, protect children from harm, build legal literacy, and support survivors of gender-based violence.
Civic Participation & Governance
We help communities understand their rights, access government schemes, and actively participate in local governance and civic life.
Culture & Community Wisdom
We preserve oral traditions, indigenous knowledge, community arts, and intergenerational wisdom while strengthening cultural identity.
AI & Technology in Social Impact
We use digital literacy, AI tools, and technology-driven approaches to improve access, participation, and impact in underserved communities.
How We Work
Our programs are different in focus, but united in approach. Three principles guide everything.
